Hey guys, Jerimiah with Riton University again today we’re talking about picking an MRAD scope or picking an MOA scope. What’s better?
Well, I’ll tell you which one is better, it’s obviously, both. both are great. You can pick which one you want, whichever one you’re more comfortable with, is probably the right one for you. They both work great, and nothing inherently better about one or the other.
Let’s talk about them just a little bit. Let’s start with MOA. What is one minute of angle, okay, at 100 yards one minute of angle is going to be a one inch by one inch square at 200 yards, one minute of angle, two inch by two inch square. Okay, take that all the way out 1000 yards that’s a 10 inch by 10 inch square.
Okay, let’s talk about 100 yards again, quarter minute of angle adjustment. So if I’m at 100 yards, and I click one quarter, okay, it is going to move my impact 1/4 of an inch. If I did two clicks, that’s going to move my point of impact a 1/2 inch, so on and so forth. It will double as you go. It’s pretty easy to keep track up for most people. If MRADs easier, play with the MRAD . This is how MOA works. The only plus side with MOA at distance is a quarter MOA of adjustments about two and a half inches at 1000 yards. A 1/10 MRAD is about three and a half inches.
MRAD is a little bit coarser of adjustment. So let’s just say at 100 yards, 1/10 MRAD, which is what the adjustments are in most MRAD scopes is going to move your point of impact .36 inches, whereas the quarter MOA scope is going to move it .25. Okay, so let’s let’s expand that out. Now we’re at 1,000 yards, that same 1/4 MOA adjustment will move my impact 2.5 inches. The one 10th MRAD adjustment at 1000 yards is going to move my impact 3.5 inches, both great options.
Just get to know your scope and bring us feedback. If you have any. We’ll help any way that we can. Thanks guys.
